Between 2000 and 2001, the State of Ohio purchased 124 acres on Middle Bass Island, including undeveloped natural areas featuring wetlands, woodlands, glacial grooves, and nearly a mile of Lake Erie shoreline, along with the shell of the Lonz Winery and the marina complex. Middle Bass Island became Ohio’s 74th state park in March 2001 and is still under construction.

Park Activities: 

Boating: Marina provides 50 boat slips, 24 of which offer electrical hookups. All boats must be registered, and a permit is required for transient or overnight dockage. Day-use dockage is on a first-come first-served basis, and docks that have been vacated may be re-rented. Reservations can be made for overnight dockage by contacting the Lake Erie Islands State Park office at (419) 797-4530. Boats may not be left unattended for more than 24 hours.
